A mix of avira and malwarebytes locally, and virustotal if I'm especially sceptical.
I'm using Linux and never really bothered scanning for viruses. Is ClamAV a good start?

You can also run a VM.
Windows Defender and for files less than 600 megs virustotal
usually just upload it to virus total
Windows Anti malware and Windows Firewall to block the exe from network
