Most clear electronics are made for the US prison system

New System of a Down lyrics dropped

Other prisons don't know what they are missing.

The Chinese retro handheld companies really know how to aim for nostalgia.

Ugh, no. Outside of Apple, most of this stuff was a sticky yellow mess in short order, and even Apple's stuff didn't always age well.

If I wanted an era back, it'd the mid to late 1980s that gave us Apple's Snow White era machines, as well as the IBM PS/2, the Commodore 64 (second version) and 128, Compaq's early stuff and suchlike. Even if it went yellow, it cleaned up nicely.

It is better than the late 90s beige era, ort he painted silver plastic of the late aughts and early teens.

I've seen plenty of yellowing, but the only stickiness I've seen is with rubber. Cables and the like.

There's plenty of modern plastic types (including clear ones) that don't cloud or yellow from UV exposure nearly as bad.

Those are neat! Not a big fan of the random cable color. That's how you get me to order multiple to try and get the color I want.

[–] Raab@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I'm sure you can find them on their website in the color you want, KZ are notorious for making not-very-expensive high quality headphones though, and their top end IEMs are super nice.

[–] Psychodelic@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Right on! Appreciate the recommendation. I'll save this for when I'm in the market for a new pair of IEMs.
