It's funny to me how even in this game (Red Alert 1) where they portray the Soviets as back-stabbing, baby-gassing monsters using everything in le old Black Book and then some, they still can't get me to root for the Allies as anything other than a marginally lesser evil. Guess this line supports that.

“Oh no, big bad Georgian mustache man is going to oppress the poor underdog Europeans? How horrible! Say, what’s going on in the rest of the world in 1950

My RA headcanon is that Germany stays a liberal democracy which doesn't fall to Nazism (thanks to Einstein's epic prank with the time machine and something something Great Man Theory) but the reigning SPD, in true socfash fashion, enters a power-sharing agreement with the DNVP and NSDAP against the looming red specter. So of course we have the German general sounding vaguely fashy.

also, they did stalin dirty with that kane/nod shit.

Not only that, they made him a cartoon villain who whines and throws a tantrum whenever things don't go 100% to plan. I guess that's to be expected for an American game in the 90s.

At least things get better in RA2 (I'm pretty sure).
