Bring my kids to NYC next month and I know they are going to be so excited for these, and then be so bummed when they just taste like plain bread.

Your kids won't be bummed at all, kids love plain anyway.

My thoughts: rainbow bagels are fun

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 12 points 11 months ago

True, but kids also make assumptions on bright colors

They're pretty.

Pretty things can't be bad

I am very pretty ∴ I am not the one who robbed that bank officer

About to minmax on my homosexuality.

[–] edge@hexbear.net 10 points 11 months ago

They look delicious.

The colors are cool too.

Just a gimmick honestly

It's so impressive they can fit so much 5G corona into these gay bagels (or, as we call them in the biz, gaygels).

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 3 points 11 months ago

If rainbow bagels spread nationwide - saying "gaygel" will be a hanging offense in Texas.

[–] tamagotchicowboy@hexbear.net 7 points 11 months ago

Aww they should at least spice the colors up with different herbs for flavor. Good enough to sprinkle some fresh dill on.

new-york style bagels are boiled instead of baked, which gives them a smooth shiny outside

[–] Dolores@hexbear.net 3 points 11 months ago

they're still baked of course, but boiling is the essential step that makes em chewy & shiny

mexican grocery stores have given me a strong distrust for fantastic looking bread that looks like it's from Narnia but tastes like it's from Dune

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 3 points 11 months ago

The Lion of Narnia appears on Dune and he's singing...

Catch the witness
Catch the wit
Catch the spirit
Catch the spit

gayroller-2000

they just taste like plain bread.

Obviously we need to gayroller-2000 them again.

[–] Alaskaball@hexbear.net 5 points 11 months ago

Oh that's what I forgot to eat when I was down there.

[–] Abracadaniel@hexbear.net 5 points 11 months ago

Pretty disgusting imo

i think we'd all have more fun if food coloring wasn't conventionally eschewed for marketing naturalistic foods

feed me pitch black food that tastes normal, that'd be a great bit. fuck it feed me a blue salad
