“China’s defense minister Li Shangfu repeated Beijing’s position on Taiwan on Tuesday in Russia where he is currently on a visit.”

“He spoke at the 11th Moscow Conference on International Security which about 100 countries and eight international organizations had been invited to attend, Russia said.”

“He added “communicating openly and resolving differences” is important when countries encounter friction.”

“Li Shangfu met his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu on the sidelines of the forum.”

“Shoigu expressed hope that the meeting will deepen the ties between the two countries' militaries and improve global and regional security.”

“Li also met with the defense department and military leaders of Iran, Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan, and Vietnam.”

“That will be followed by a visit to Russian ally Belarus.”

“He will hold meetings and talks with Belarusian state and military leaders and visit military facilities, the ministry said.”
