Are we checking? This is a place to take a p*ss out of motorsports.

F1 is not the only motorsport in the world, so go ahead and post your shitposts about WEC or MotoGP or IndyCar or ralley or Polish Speedway or whatever. Even Formula E, I guess. It needs some love, too.

By the way, F2 > F1.

Rules? What rules? Stop inventing. Just don't be a douche. Lemmy.world's sporting conduct applies.

That was such a weird and funny series of events. Oscar made a killer call, obviously, and alpine fumbled stuff per usual

Imagine if Alpine had been less... Alpine about it all and had actually signed Piastri. He'd presumably be nowhere and Ricciardo might be having a better time at McLaren.

You know I had not even thought about that. I love Piastri, he is doing something awesome with McLaren, but part of me would love to see a smiling Ricciardo back on the podium. Could Dani be winning races if still at McLaren?

It's really hard to say. A lot of people think he's past it, but he did have that flash of brilliance at Monza even when the car wasn't a front-runner, so who knows!

Totally agree. It would be interesting to see if he'd be to Lando like Checo to Max, or if he'd be up there fighting for wins

You seem to have forgotten that they literally paid him millions of dollars to leave

[–] smeg@feddit.uk 1 points 11 months ago

That's because he was still under contract, right? So presumably if they hadn't signed Piastri then they'd still have Ricciardo as their driver.

I remember people on reddit saying that wasn't professional and he wouldn't be taken seriously in the paddock anymore. I love armchair experts.

If Alpine publicly announce wrong info, he can publicly correct it

I love armchair experts.

If I made an F1 car, I just made it faster. It's really easy to solve Alpine's problems.

I don't know anything about f1 racing, what's the context here?

[–] CaptDust@sh.itjust.works 11 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

The context is basically the tweet, Alpine team announced first they signed Oscar Piastri to drive for them. He had privately signed with another team, McLaren. He called out Alpine very publicly. Then recently his season started taking off with McLaren developing into a top car, while Alpine struggles.
