I'm thinking of buying myself a ThinkPad to run Linux on it. I've never owned one, and never ran Linux on anything. What are the differences between these two besides the size and numpad? Should I know something?

This probably comes too late. But I've been burned too much by this to not spread it across the internet. The T580 with nVidia graphics has terrible thermal throttling making the card totally useless.

I think that's also the case with the T480.
