Why would people be eating dinner in the morning?

(the map should use 24 hour time and I'm really annoyed that it doesn't)

[–] Cadeillac@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago

It's dinner. Safe to assume PM

Spain rule. Starting the night activities after dinner at 10pm.

9-10 in Portugal is crazy. We don’t all eat that late here

This partly explains why everything in Helsinki is closed so early. I was a hungry American tourist, left with very few options close by my hotel. It was only a problem the first evening.

Finns also eat their main meal at lunchtime. And by lunchtime, I mean 11am. I worked at a lunch restaurant and had people having a huge meal (salad, bread vegetables, potatoes, two schnitzels, soup and dessert) at 10:30. Sometimes earlier if we were ready.

As a Finn I've never been able to do that, but when in the army or working, kinda have to for fuel (depending on what job I was doing office jobs don't really need energy like that).

Always felt incredibly nauseous afterwards.

When I get to be on my own schedule, I eat at around 19-21 (but also go to bed really late)

I mean, if that's your main meal of the day I get it.

There's people at my office doing omad and only eat lunsj

Good for you, but you're not average.

[–] Dasus@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

No, I'm not "the average" (because I'm one person), and I don't think it's particularly good for me. In fact, it's caused quite a lot of issues.

4-5 is the correct time. Then you can exercise at 7.

Evening workouts always mess with my sleep. Against all odds I've been able to start working out in the morning and it's helped a whole lot

I feel that. Was just in Spain. Holy hell they eat late.

is it even dinner if u eat before 8? either way anything u eat before 5 is definitely not dinner that is crazy stuff.

Dinner at 5, bedtime at 9

[–] SmoothLiquidation@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

My family eats dinner when we are hungry. So what if the clock says 4:30? And yes it’s dinner.

[–] linkhidalgogato@lemmy.ml 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

when do u eat lunch then, cuz when i eat lunch at 12 or even 11 im never hungry by 4 or even 5, also do u not get hungry latter in the afternoon? cuz if i eat dinner as early as even 6 by the time im gonna sleep im starving.

[–] SmoothLiquidation@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I tend to have a late breakfast and a small lunch. Maybe a few nuts or something around noon or one.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Ok my understanding of time zones explains Spain and France, but wtf Portugal‽

[–] peto@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

Nah, the Iberians just eat late.

[–] PixTupy@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

This map is bullshit, we eat at 8 pm.

They don't own clocks and just sort of do things when they get to it. Lots of eating small amounts while drinking in the afternoon. The pigs are usually ready to be dug up later in the evening anyways, so dinner just happens late.
