Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

UK trolleys (carts) have a little hook below the handle where you can hang them. Do your carts not?

[–] EdibleFriend@lemmy.world 66 points 2 years ago (4 children)

No. Here in America we just have a gun holster on the carts.

He forgot to mention the drink holder as well. Fits a 52oz medium beverage.

Then you should tip me as I'm American.

In America you can sneak a candy bar into a movie threater by putting it in the magazine slot of your pistol. This gets you out of paying $20 for a snickers bar.

And we wouldn't want it any other way.

They do have cup holders sometimes

[–] billbasher@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

No that would be nice! Plus it could easily be bolted on

Sadly Lidl trollies in the UK doesn't. At least not at my local.

Their trollies used to have plastic hooks fitted to the front of the trolly, but they've been removed for some reason 😪

Some places do. Whole Foods comes to mind; and I think those big plastic Target carts do too, IIRC

I just put them in the pullout seat for toddlers.

Also, where I live in the US at least, the grocery carts have hooks for grocery bags

I've never seen carts with that little extra bit, but that's what I imagined would be a good idea to have on them. Just some hooks to keep the bags from flopping to the bottom. Wherever you are is ahead of the curve when it comes to cart technology. 😅 The most tech in the carts around here is the locks on the wheels that turn on when you get too far away from the building. 😮‍💨

Think I've only ever seen this like twice. Really depends on what are you are in

[–] SkaraBrae@lemmy.world 9 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I see these a lot in my city.

[–] Entertainmeonly@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Rods in my bags just seem like a cumbersome addition. Are they not harder to store? Do the long bars not hinder bringing them inside? I have narrow stairs before my door to my apartment I think those may make turning on them a hassle.

[–] SkaraBrae@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

I don't own them, so I don't know about storage. The handles are on the same side as the rods so carrying them should be easy enough.

Like 20 years ago I had this grand idea to sell add on kits for shopping carts to grocery stores. One would divide the cart in half so you could have heavy stuff separate from chips/bread/whatever. Another had all kinds of hooks/holders for stuff like that.

Should’ve done something with that idea apparently.

[–] intensely_human@lemm.ee 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Why is it a problem of your reusable bags slip to the bottom of the cart?

[–] billbasher@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Because you can’t start bagging until the bags are present

[–] jasondj@ttrpg.network 1 points 2 years ago

Go out and buy a “Mommy-hook”. It’s essentially a giant carabiner with a foam side for a “handle”.

You wanna clip something to something? Boom. Mommy hook.
