This is true, you’re right. I actually have a roll featuring the final confederate flag design:

It's also pretty much the second confederate flag, used between 1863–1865. In the final months of the war they changed it for a version with red on it, so that it would be made clear that they were in fact surrendering and not just waving their stupid-ass flag.
