ShiftOS based on Androidโ„ข 14, ShiftOS-Light, extensive custom ROM community support

Since this is probably what everyone wants to know. Degoogled by default ๐Ÿ‘

Nice, did you hear about this phone before? It's the first time for me

Yeah I've been looking for a linux phone originally and stumbled upon this in the process. Seems more viable too tbh since everything's already optimized for smartphones unlike say Ubuntu touch.

I dunno, at this point I view android as tainted. Even if you degoogle it, apps are basically tracker and ai trojan horses these days.

Linux phone are attractive because there aint no apps for that.

That's not quite true actually. You can get safe android (compatible) apps for virtually anything if you stick with foss and trusted sources. And Linux has its fair share of shady software too.

The replaceable battery has caught my eye. I'm guessing these phones are not available in america? GSMarena doesn't have anything about the company or their phones, and Shiftphone have been around over a decade now. I want to get one but cannot find cellular connection stats.

okay that's insane bang for buck.

the only minor thing I wish they did differently is a physical camera cover for both cameras built into the device. like is standard on laptops these days. the switch is great, but it's still uncomfortable knowing that a camera is pointing at me all the time. my cave man brain needs visible confirmation

I have preordered one a year ago and am excited to finally get it soon. Delivery is planned for mid till end of March. Currently still on my over five year old shift 5me,which I'm gonna miss for the small size it has

I am somewhat concerned about how much of this is white label equipment.

The phone itself looks super cool and is more likely self designed.

The other products like their headphones look suspiciously the Monoprice BT600anc.
