All their kids have a specific bad thing they do and the parents are on it from the get go.

I'm reading it more like parents used to do those specific things as kids so that's what they warn against.

That does feel funnier.

Lol. Yeah. And that's sometimes the same thing, anyway.

If there are any cosmic forces of karma, I figure they love it when that happens.

Same. Because of the halos, right?

OK, so, no actual attempt at humor

if the strictest definition of humor is what you find funny then it sounds like that would be correct.

I value any well executed set up and pay off. I'm just not seeing that here.

this comic is basically a blog/diary from the artists life so its more funny situational. Its not constructed humor. The characters are actual people and the comic is something that happened technically. They take some license when presenting it as a comic. Like the angel figures.

As a parent its funny to me and required zero explanation.

Many comics of this series mirror stuff from my own life in an exaggerated way but i know they would have fallen flat a decade ago.

Is this like some Family Circus humor I don't get or what?

The comic is sorta a web blog/diary and the comics are something around the artists life. The artist (or sometimes the husband) usually has some commentary around it but much of the humor is likely going to be funnier for someone with kids or at least who had them at one time. When the comic started it had situations that would be understood from a college life context and then a fandom experience. Some also likely make a bit more sense for artist types.

I guess I'll just chime in that I understood the humor immediately. Lol. Just for a contrasting data point.
