Iirc at least one Super Mario Bros. game (I think 3?) is literally framed as a stage play, and the LoZ universe is canonized as a ring cycle. There’s plenty of meta-ness to Nintendo’s IPs and it’s pretty neat.
yep, SMB3 intro shows it's a theater troupe, hence all the sports together. It's confirmed by someone at nintendo at some point
It was confirmed by Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of the Mario franchise. Though in the same video he implies he is Bowser Jr.’s mother so take it with a grain of salt

has the first person played ANY sonic game or watched ANY sonic related piece of media released in the last 10 years except the movies?
eggman is more of a joke than a threat these days and in fact the plot of almost every game from Sonic Adventure 2 onwards has been "eggman tries to do sonic in once and for all by unleashing some ancient evil, that evil then escapes his control and he has to team up with sonic in order to defeat it"
