Some people are beginning to suspect he's been killed. I hope to hell that isn't the case, but it's hard to really know at this point, given the complete lack of cooperation with the courts.

I don't think they expected their death camp(s) to get exposed so quickly, and now they're rushing to figure out what to do. Or maybe Bukele started killing people on his own. I pray I'm wrong, and he's still alive.

They know exactly where he is. Whether he's alive or dead is the question.

Would they really have started killing so quickly? Like, I'd think they'd want to wait a couple of months and ease us into it

It isn't the case that they have to engage in diplomacy to bring him back. They are paying El Salvador to take these prisoners. El Salvador has no reason not to hand him over.
