Another election brings another round of promises from politicians trying to win votes, but how many did the last government keep? It’s likely more than you think.

Lemme save you some time:

  • 70% delivered (vs 66% most governments)
  • 20% failed to deliver
  • i guess that leaves 10% as thwarted,....

Which promises matter depends on you

I'm never quite sure how much info to quote in the submission body for links like this, since with those summaries I imagine very few people will actually bother to read it now. Maybe most people wouldn't bother to read it either way though, idk.

Sorry, no intention to be critical of your post. I would have done exactly as you did.

And thanks for posting it!

doesn't thwarted just count as failed to deliver

I'd like to see a comparison between labor and coalition governments, if 66% is the average across government and this one achieved 70% and the Gillard/Rudd one "similar levels" then I assume the Coalition ones statistically break more promises.

It would be good to see the actual results though, as it might show that both parties are in fact not the same after all.

Personally, I don't want the Coalition to keep the promises I've heard so far.

The parties obviously aren't the same, I haven't seen anyone say that here. In fact, I prefer one far more than the other and my preferences reflect that. But both are inadequate. The false dichotomy people keep implying, despite the consistent rise of minor parties and the crossbench, is bloody irritating. (I know your post is talking about parties that have held government and there are only two of those, I'm referring to the "both parties are the same" line)
