The true purity test of a leftist is that they have to like cats

The left? That’s just two flavour of tankies.

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

No? Maoists and Marxist-Leninists (aka Stalinists) are tankies, but Marxists are not.

Why are Marxist-Leninists the same as Stalinists? I don't think Lenin would have been too excited about Stalinism

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Marxism–Leninism was developed from Bolshevism by Joseph Stalin in the 1920s based on his understanding and synthesis of classical Marxism and Leninism.

-Wikipedia. The term Marxist-Leninism was coined by Stalin to give legitimacy to his ideas.

I wasn't aware of that, thanks!

If the left could unite behind the Democratic nominee, Harris would have likely never been president.

Because the 2024 election would have been the end of Hillary's reign and the candidates would probably be different.

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 3 points 2 months ago

Why would the left want to unite behind the right?

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Hillary’s reign

I have no idea what that is. Please enlighten me.

Hillary ran for president in 2016 against trump.

But I guess both the left and right and undecided all agree with one rule about presidency: cannot be a woman.

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 1 points 2 months ago

but she never "reigned"?

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 1 points 2 months ago

I'm not sure how that makes sense. If the left united behind Harris and that mattered she'd be president no?
