They could fix illegal immigration ib 2 seconds if they charged the people who employ illegal immigrants

[–] NarrativeBear@lemmy.world 20 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

And if the immigration process was made clear and easy.

both these statements imply the goal isn't for the overlords to enslave us. both statements are important though. they can be what jolts someone awake to that the system isn't designed to do what they say it does, but instead is set up to do what it actually does

On the other hand, undocumented people have limited options for jobs, and there is something useful about someone willing to employ them AND KEEP THEIR FUCKING MOUTH SHUT!

this is how german citizens used the gestapo, how russians treated the okrana, how frenchmen called up the reign of terror. nothing is new. everything has happened before. you have to look up from your feet and see the world that's actually around you

Report the employer for everything under the sun

[–] Trees@lemm.ee 10 points 3 weeks ago

Also for tax evasion

[–] Shardikprime@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

This doesn't make any sense. Wouldn't the company be liable for having Hired undocumented workers without verifying in that case?

You've made the mistake of assuming our government works for the people and not for the corporations

Hopefully they witnessed something terrible and then named the company and called people, etc. and didn't just go online and post "see, this is what happens." If it's true and fucked up why not say it.

Well they said the rest of the staff is undocumented… so…

Yeah that's the real issue here. Reporting the employer seems great until you realize how many others get hurt in the process. Other issues presented, the agency you should be reporting them to is ICE. So if the story is true, they should already be aware. But you may be able to send a tip to the IRS because if they were hiring illegals, they likely were commuting some form of tax evasion as well. I always go by the quote, never commit a misdemeanor when you are evading a felony. Companies greedy enough to break laws though often don't stop at one.

Hence Trump wasn't charged with 1 felony count of fraud, he was convicted of over 30.

My uncle is the president of construction and he said this story is true!

I was born in a country, Portugal, which at the time had a Fascist Dictatorship.

Whilst the Revolution happened not long after I was born so I really didn't grew up under Fascism, I definitelly grew up hearing the stories of how people would lie about others having criticized the dictator so that the secret police (called the "PIDE") would come and take them and about the prison for political prisioners near Lisbon.

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

that's cooperating with fascists. add their head to the list of those that need to roll when this is over.
