“Conspiracy theories have long been used to maintain power: the Soviet leadership saw capitalist and counter-revolutionary conspiracies everywhere; the Nazis, Jewish ones. But those conspiracies were ultimately there to buttress an ideology, whether class warfare for Communists or race for Nazis. With today’s regimes, which struggle to formulate a single ideology – indeed, which can’t if they want to maintain power by sending different messages to different people – the idea that one lives in a world full of conspiracies becomes the world view itself. Conspiracy does not support the ideology; it replaces it. In Russia this is captured in the catchphrase of the country’s most important current affairs presenter: ‘A coincidence? I don’t think so!’ says Dmitry Kiselev as he twirls between tall tales that dip into history, literature, oil prices and colour revolutions, which all return to the theme of how the world has it in for Russia.

And as a world view it grants those who subscribe to it certain pleasures: if all the world is a conspiracy, then your own failures are no longer all your fault. The fact that you achieved less than you hoped for, that your life is a mess – it’s all the fault of the conspiracy.

More importantly, conspiracy is a way to maintain control. In a world where even the most authoritarian regimes struggle to impose censorship, one has to surround audiences with so much cynicism about anybody’s motives, persuade them that behind every seemingly benign motivation is a nefarious, if impossible-to-prove, plot, that they lose faith in the possibility of an alternative, a tactic a renowned Russian media analyst called Vasily Gatov calls ‘white jamming’.

And the end effect of this endless pile-up of conspiracies is that you, the little guy, can never change anything. For if you are living in a world where shadowy forces control everything, then what possible chance do you have of turning it around? In this murk it becomes best to rely on a strong hand to guide you.

‘Trump is our last chance to save America,’ is the message of his media hounds. Only Putin can ‘raise Russia from its knees’. ‘The problem we are facing today is less oppression, more lack of identity, apathy, division, no trust,’ sighs Srdja. ‘There are more tools to change things than before, but there’s less will to do so'.” ― Peter Pomerantsev, This Is Not Propaganda: Adventures in the War Against Reality, 2019 (pre-pandemic years)

Wednesday May 14 afternoon

The never-ending torture of Donald Trump White House topics and people not wanting to get him off the White House World Stage never ends. So many are inspired and duplicate Donald Trump behaviors and ambitions. Hell is not a place underground, Hell is a mental state of being saturated with non-stop values of anti-goodness swarm of Donald Trump media consumers.

Donald Trump is so entertaining to people, people adore mocking him so much, you can't escape their defense systems that maybe just maybe the crowd drawn around mocking non-stop "JD Vance couch", "Donald Trump orange skin", over and over and over is a problem. That it's like a non-stop traffic jam, gridlock, a sinkhole. The amusement and pleasure people get over the Donald Trump White House Hate Festival, the Bonfire of Goodness mutlimedia performance.

Get to the front page of Reddit by doing antics. People can't just do "Day 7 of 700 6am We The People call for Second Bill of Rights" / health care. Which should get press coverage saying social media users are protesting in mass. Instead, antics antics antics. Just like Donald Trump / Elon Musk role models.

"the GOP has never been a party of principle. they just pick up principles and wave them around performatively whenever it serves their interest, and drop them in the trash as soon as their usefulness ends. they're for state's rights when there are democrats in the oval office, and otherwise they are for top-down federal rule. they're for the second amendment when white radicals are shooting at nancy pelosi's house, and firmly against them when people of color are forming community police forces. free speech is precious if some neckbeard yokel wants to yell the N-word on twitter, and should get you deported if a leftie says something mildly critical of the dear leader." - May 13, 2025 - https://old.reddit.com/r/Economics/comments/1klt0wq/trump_caved_and_got_zero_in_return_pundits/ms65g06/

I disagree on several things.

  1. It does not establish context of humanity, this isn't a USA / North America geography issue. it is a human brain issue. Middle East Levant clergy does the same things.

  2. There are principles, Faith in Hate. Faith in dehumanizing the gentiles, dehumanizing infidels, etc.

  3. "they just pick up principles and wave them around performatively" - that's what people have done throughout history. Line up to symbols and icons they don't really stand up for when they aren't popular. Right now, Malala from Swat Valley Pakistan in May 2025 isn't popular. Her ideas are great. So are Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's 1954 equations on hate, great stuff, but people are flocking like sheep - not trending on social media, not popular. MLK Jr covers that issue of toxic popularity. MLK Jr: "Most people can't stand up for their convictions, because the majority of people might not be doing it. See, everybody's not doing it, so it must be wrong. And since everybody is doing it, it must be right. So a sort of numerical interpretation of what's right."

  4. "they just pick up principles and wave them around performatively" - behavior is by no means only GOP political party members. That is Rupert Murdoch media audience, Reddit media consumers, Lemmy media consumers, Bluesky media consumers, Twitter media consumers, people I have met in families (marriage not meaning eternal lifetime, despite being the only all future util death vow made in adult choice lifetime, you don't make such a promise to your profession, but you do in marriages. And people put no effort into overcoming mistakes / errors, despite no ability to know in 40 years what two people will be like from age 25 - how they will be at age 65 - predicting the future).

  5. People are attracted to mocking and mockery. anti-GOP is just as engaged with Donald Trumpism total mockery !TotalMockery@lemm.ee - this is a global behavior, Jewish mocking Muslims, Hindu mocking Muslims, Muslims mocking Hindu (Pakistan, India, Iran, etc, etc, etc).

“But it is much later in the game now (1985), and ignorance of the score is inexcusable. To be unaware that a technology comes equipped with a program for social change, to maintain that technology is neutral, to make the assumption that technology is always a friend to culture is, at this late hour, stupidity plain and simple.” ― Neil Postman, Amusing Ourselves to Death: Public Discourse in the Age of Show Business, 1985

Tuesday May 13, 2025 morning

"settle for something: to accept or agree to something, or to decide to have something, although it is not exactly what you want or it is not the best."

Diary of Anne Frank. "the death of truth is the ultimate victory of evil" - Truth is dead in United States of America

We The People in USA May 2025 have "settled for" the mocking and insulting of Donald Trump as entertainment, "Reality White House" mockery entertainment, "Live Twitter White House" mocking entertainment.

This morning I created !TotalMockery@lemm.ee - "Diary of Anne Frank. "the death of truth is the ultimate victory of evil" - Truth is dead in United States of America"

Such ignroance in USA.

I did not vote for Elon Musk either

He is a hired contractor. Like Edward Snowden was a hired contractor of the NSA. You don't vote for consultants and contractors. Donald Trump gave Elon Musk the power, you voted for Donald Trump. Just like if Donald Trump sells weapon systems to Saudi Arabia today, you don't vote for Saudi Arabian people either - you voted for Donald Trump to had over military weapons power / killing machines made in USA.

I know some people take advantage

But you don't know politicians take advantage all over the world, not just in USA, using manipulation and liars. And you continue to vote for liars and manipulators to lead your nation - just like people do in other nations. Maybe you need to re-think how you say you know there are people taking advantage - and you don't have the courage and bravery to address those manipulators. Like criticizing Rupert Murdoch for being a leader of liars and deceivers.

by government official i mean congressman or senator at a federal level

People elected by We The People? We The People flock to liars as business leaders, we blindly trust Public Relations firms ("PR firms"), we complain when a Hollywood film doesn't have enough advertising and marketing constantly on social media systems (Reddit inclusive), because word of mouth is mocked and ridiculed in favor of self-proclaimed "it will be a great film" of the content creators.

In this topic of pandemic, We The People entirely ignored Bill Gates' Ted Talk about how unprepared we were years before. I witness that We The People don't say "Bill Gates Was Right, we should have prepared more", nor do I see people say: It is only a matter of time with airports all over the world that we have another major disease outbreak, we need to still prepare like Bill Gates said in April 2015.

Instead, We The People engage the Total Mockery systems of Surkov / Surkovian behaviors of Donald Trump. Endlessly concerned about his eyes closing at a meeting, his diaper poop, Donald Trump's facial cosmetics / shallow racial skin color, his "go touch grass" golf course outings.

August 24, 2018 - 15 months before Wuhan China, Pandemic - the information warfare was spelled out. Show me anyone in We The People, social media - who reminded when it came in January 2020 to North America?

Too busy in the total mockery of poopy diapers of Donald Trump to be (sustained) serious about anything, deaths of millions to a disease.

"Уже тогда мы прекрасно понимали, что на Арабской весне дело не закончится и впереди наш ждёт Украина, санкции, Сирия и так далее. Победа Обамы станет разрушительной ни только для России, но и всего мира."
