!nostupidquestions is a community dedicated to being helpful and answering each others' questions on various topics.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules (interactive)

Rule 1- All posts must be legitimate questions. All post titles must include a question.

All posts must be legitimate questions, and all post titles must include a question. Questions that are joke or trolling questions, memes, song lyrics as title, etc. are not allowed here. See Rule 6 for all exceptions.

Rule 2- Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material.

Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material. You will be warned first, banned second.

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Questions which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts and joke questions.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-question posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

On fridays, you are allowed to post meme and troll questions, on the condition that it's in text format only, and conforms with our other rules. These posts MUST include the [NSQ Friday] tag in their title.

If you post a serious question on friday and are looking only for legitimate answers, then please include the [Serious] tag on your post. Irrelevant replies will then be removed by moderators.

Rule 7- You can't intentionally annoy, mock, or harass other members.

If you intentionally annoy, mock, harass, or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

Out of the loop what's occurred?

.......dear Lord it's gone, it's all just gone.....

USA is going full Handmaid's Tale to outlaw pornography by defining "obscenity" in the broadest possible terms and OP is conflating that with a sudden apparent disappearance of significant amounts of NSFW content on Lemmy wondering if instances potentially hosted in the USA are trying to get ahead of it by removing/defederating such content, which is honestly probably plausible.

Edit: For what it's worth, I'm outside USA and using an outside-USA instance and I don't see any difference in lemmynsfw.com or elsewhere, so if this is legitimately happening and not just a brief technical hiccup, it's probably either related to lemmy.world (judging by everybody here being from lemmy.world) or geoblocked in the USA specifically.

Lol this bill will never pass, and there's still plenty of NSFW content available on Lemmy.

[–] Feyd@programming.dev 27 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Just like all the other horrible shit that's happened that "will never happen" amirite

[–] FaceDeer@fedia.io 13 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Yeah. It's not like rich people will have trouble accessing their favourite flavors of pornography regardless of the laws.

[–] lurch@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 months ago

They "can just grab them by the pussy" after all.

Not according to me, I've had a pretty good track record of predicting what will and won't happen with this administration.

I don't think it will pass this time... but people were telling me roe v Wade was safe when I was raising alarms a decade ago and now look where we are. The theocrats and facists mean what they say and they're way more persistent and capable than people give them credit for.

Some old fucking turtle spend 40 years of effort to do that.

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

If I had a quarter for every bill that passed that was "unpassable" I would have a pocket of quarters.

[–] cattywampas@lemm.ee 0 points 2 months ago

Bet you a nickel this bill won't even make it out of committee.

[–] makeshiftreaper@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago

It's entirely possible there's an issue with lemmynsfw.com that either has screwed up federation, or the majority of their content. I'm at work so I can't investigate right now but I'd bet it'll be fixed by the end of the day

I also noticed this. Mine are not disabled in settings. Seems like they all disappeared a day or two ago. Going into their communities shows no posts there. None are showing up in the regular feeds.

[–] Spyvr@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

When I visit a community, I can see the total number of posts, but the main screen tells me nothing is there. What happened?

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

I did a quick “NSFW” search and can confirm there are recent (as in 1-2 hours old) nsfw posts and they are viewable. I did not search for communities, just posts.

Edit: clicking the community shows it empty even though new posts exist.

[–] bjoern_tantau@swg-empire.de 5 points 2 months ago

I love having my own instance. :-p

[–] Nurse_Robot@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Oh wow, I hadn't realized until you pointed it out. Did we get Tumblr'd?

[–] zjti8eit@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 month ago

There is also a good chance you're instanced blocked lemmynsfw.com and any other instance that allows NSFW content. Laws on this stuff very greatly around the world and these folks who voluntarily offer a fedi server around the globe don't want to risk being held responsible, particularly if someone posts child porn on a different instance and because of how ActivityPub works that trash ends up being stored on the server in your closet.

[–] remon@ani.social -1 points 2 months ago (2 children)

You probably have it disabled in your profil.

[–] Newton1642@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

If OP had changed anything themself, they would probably not have asked. I do confirm that for me the content of nsfw communities became invisible today.

First rule of IT: Users Lie. People push buttons and don't remember all the time

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Also could've accidentally blocked the instance. Have you checked your settings, OP? Some clients let you block entire communities and servers from the feed.
