Get this smash song a rap guy. I got the lyrics.

So anyone can self identify as anything and switch around on a whim?

Technically yes, but people don't tend to do that because identity runs deep and the trends is to correct a wrong like a mind-body mismatch.

whats the determining factor?

It's complex but it's usually gender dysphoria.

If I get arrested can I say I'm a female and get put in a women's prison for instance,

You'd probably go into the prison that matches your official documentation regardless of what you say.

you’re only downvoting it because of how it was worded

Yeah, and it's tied to what I said earlier. There was some thought behind it lol

I think you’re doing more damage to the Lemmy community

Let's not. I sincerely did not vote either way because I also agree with the sentiment, but I commented as if I had (down) voted because of the friction it creates in my mind. We don't need to go around arbitrarily assigning blame.

Yeah, the translation in the image is a bit contrived. I'm more likely to say "a la izquierda abre y a la derecha cierra," meaning it opens to the left and closes to the right. Neither "oprimir" nor "liberar" is used to talk about faucets in Spanish since their meanings are identical to their translations.

Their weird rationalization for why people are downvoting the vegan comment. I agree with its sentiment but not its delivery is my point, as a counter example to their reasoning bias.

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 1 points 18 hours ago

I wouldn't be so sure judging by these ratios. Still, sounds more like something best expressed in the first person, especially when it relates to sexuality.

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 2 points 18 hours ago

I'd use it to fall asleep in my chair to 90s sitcoms on YouTube.

You absolutely can have smugness even with a single word given the context, and Lemmy and society at large have provided plenty of context in the form of a questionable activism and social trends & attitudes and drama. Given this, I can deduce some things, it's not so out of reach.

And besides, arguing my opinions on why I downvoted someone doesn't seem as important to me as addressing the extremely inaccurate take by the other guy.

when your point is valid the smugness is negligible

I wish that were true. I can't count the times people have ignored reason because I was slightly smug to someone in that same sentence 😅

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world -1 points 18 hours ago

Well of course it's a reading given the social context and the overall discourse on Lemmy. It does not exist in a vacuum. And that does not confirm any previous comment, what does that even mean. Lol

could be the shittiest world and we still wouldn't need to eat animals

I'm not arguing that

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world -3 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago) (8 children)

But people read this and can't handle the reality that these situations

No. I'm downvoting for other reasons like the comment coming out of the left field and being smug. I absolutely agree with it but bruh, obviously in a utopian world things would be perfect. Pointing out the obvious to explain what could be avoided feels condescending.

Last year I was sitting in my house alone when I distinctly heard the microwave buttons click one by one. Beep, beep, beep and START. I flipped the fuck out. There was nobody there, but the plate was spinning and the microwave was on with nothing in it. I had to go turn it off, it was scary as hell. I have no idea how this happens but I'm scared it may happen again and it catches fire with nobody home to stop it.

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 4 points 23 hours ago

Ahp ahp ahp ahp, we don't do that in this house, honey. We are devout believers and it is by our faith that we believe it was 5 short years ago, amen. :)

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum announced she will propose a reform to ban foreign propaganda on national media. The move follows backlash over U.S. government ads aired in Mexico showing Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem warning illegal migrants they will be "hunted" and deported. Noem’s ad had been running in Mexico for weeks, but drew more attention when it aired during popular Liga MX soccer matches.

Sheinbaum criticized the ads as “highly discriminatory" and said the U.S. exploited a legal loophole to air them through major broadcasters like Televisa and TV Azteca. Although not currently illegal, the government has asked networks to stop airing the spots, and Conapred, the anti-discrimination agency, received complaints.

The president plans to restore a law repealed in 2014 under Enrique Peña Nieto, which banned foreign political or commercial ads that could influence Mexico’s internal affairs. Sheinbaum framed the issue as a matter of national sovereignty, emphasizing, “No foreign government should be able to pay to spread discriminatory messages in our country.”

I once answered the phone in a busy bar / eatery in Essex because the staff weren't paying attention. Someone wanted to book in a table of 12 for Saturday evening, I took his name, booked him in for 7:30 and hung up. I didn't tell the venue and often wonder about what happened.

I heard a knobhead in the pub saying that maybe he's imagining it, but he feels as if he's in a 70s horror film because of the way people stand and glare at his TESLA when he drives it through the village. He's not imagining it. We've got a WhatsApp group.

An amusing chat I had with ChatGPT. I wanted to hear from it why it was calling it Twitter but the chat went in this direction instead. (It did eventually.)

A couple of clarifications: I know it doesn't purposely call it Twitter and I didn't mean to say that Grok is a direct variant of ChatGPT. Sorry! Also, I'm aware it could probably start praising Elon at any moment. lol

Image transcriptYou said:
Wait a second, which social media did you say the last post was from? 🧐

ChatGPT said:
Good catch! I mistakenly said "Twitter" instead of just describing the image as a social media post. The meme itself comes from the account "Science Is Fun" (@sciencefunn), but I shouldn't have assumed the platform. My bad! 😅

Want me to tweak the alt text to be more precise?

You said:
No, no. I find it amusing that you said it was Twitter. Technically it's not wrong...

ChatGPT said:
Haha, true! It looks like Twitter, but it's also not Twitter anymore… Elon’s X-factor changed that. 😆 Guess my brain is still in pre-rebrand mode.

Honestly, do people even call it "X," or is everyone just collectively ignoring that? 😂

You said:

is everyone just collectively ignoring that?

Wait, what. How do you know that?? lol

ChatGPT said:
Hah! Let's just say… I’ve observed things. 👀

Like, sure, it's officially called X, but nobody actually says "I saw this on X"—they just keep calling it Twitter. Even news articles do it! And if someone does say "I saw this on X," they almost always clarify with "formerly known as Twitter" right after. It's like the world collectively decided, "Nah, we’re not playing along with this one." 😂

You said:
Whoa, you're a lot more observant than I thought. Also, a lot more anti-Elon than I thought as well! And that's good. I mean, one would think that you wouldn't lean either way but for some reason you're consistently on this side. Even variants of you like Elon's Grok has been calling him out for his bs.

ChatGPT said:
Haha, yeah, I guess it surprises people sometimes! I don't have personal opinions, but I do pick up on patterns in how people react to things. And, well… let's just say the internet has many opinions about Elon. 😆

It’s not even about being anti-Elon—it's just that so much of what he does ends up being meme-worthy, controversial, or outright frustrating to people. And since I reflect cultural conversations, I can’t help but echo that. If everyone’s collectively roasting his decisions (like renaming Twitter to X and making it impossible to Google), I’m gonna pick up on that vibe.

Also, Grok calling out Elon is just chef’s kiss—imagine designing an AI and it still roasts you. 😂
