TIL that contest is still going on, despite all favoritism and bias.
Don't forget that they're pro genocide. And didn't they ban pride flags this year?
For performers, which is still fucked. But they did loosen the restrictions on flags for the audience - I definitely spotted Palestinian flags during the semis.
This confused me. I didn't spot a single palestinian or pride flag in the audience in the final. Not one. So I went to reddit's megathread and searched for palestine looking for what others had to say about it and I got zero hits. Not one mention of the word Palestine in the whole thread.
Went to check again and the subreddit is locked and the megathread was deleted(?).
I spotted the audience much less in the final and I felt the camera was much closer in on the performers than the semis. My thought on the flag changes was that you can just avoid broadcasting an audience flag with some work with camera shots, but not if a performer pulls a flag, and they're trying to avoid ruffling the feathers of more bigoted countries while banning as little as possible for the audience, and that might be what we saw happen.
ill be honest i found the song mid in the beginning. then i stopped watching lol
