I once commented on Reddit that I'd suck the dev of vlc off until he kicks his feet and curls his toes for providing us with such well made software. Someone tagged him because of course he's on Reddit too and he just replied "I'm in France :)". I still think about that sometimes.

I love VLC. It can play anything. Plus, in the Linux package versions I can disable network access from the process and even take away write access for the entire filesystem.
There’s a mobile version. It has some issues, but it’s cool.
