Virginia Rep. Gerry Connolly, who edged out New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) for a top Democratic post in December before stepping down, died from esophageal cancer on Wednesday, becoming the third Democrat to die in office this term.

The late congressman made headlines in December when, with support from former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, he defeated AOC to lead the House Oversight Committee, despite reportedly violating stock trading laws, according to Raw Story. AOC would have been the youngest Democrat to chair a House committee at 35 years old.

We need age caps now. Same retirement age as pilots. These people will not even live long enough to deal with the consequences of their shitty policies.

They’re burning the building down on their way out, and it blows my mind that we have formed a mob to physically remove these corrupt dinosaurs from office.

More people with no future making decisions for the rest of us... Stellar.

There’s nothing nefarious going on. The problem is that the people making the decisions in this country are mostly geriatric.

I know, but I couldn't help myself

So does this mean AOC will now get to lead the House Oversight Committee?

They'll wheel out another self-interested, corporate octegenarian who they'll argue is most interested in resolving our suffering despite the fact that they will only protect their power & position while also allowing fascism to freely grow.

Assuming they can’t find someone else, and the necromancers fail to reanimate him, possibly

Democrats are too afraid AOC will actually change something
