Pocket will be shutting down on July 8, 2025. This is very disappointing as I love the compatibility with my Kobo.

I'm sure pocket was great for people who were interested in its functionality but it really should have been an optional addon not an integrated part of the browser.

It also means Firefox loses another revenue stream (that nobody ever used) keeping it going.

Maybe Kobo will finally make an API for loading articles so we can send them from Instapaper/Raindrop/Pinboard/etc...

I used to love Pocket ... I remember they changed something, and then I refused to use it since. I don't remember what it was now, though. I assume enshittification of some kind.

they added recommendations. that's when i stopped using it. i wanted a way to bookmark entire sites at once and then they started scraping the stuff i saved. then moz bought it and now the recommendation feature is the only thing they're keeping around.
