I just watched the first 3 episodes and 20 minutes is just too short, they're very good. He does feel a bit autistic-coded which I like, the whole problems with eye contact and well, everything else. "He like me for real".

Terminator with crippling social anxiety. The books are good

Any of us could be Murderbot really, gotta imagine most of us hate their job and only does it out of obligation, and would rather watch all day if they could.

Love this show, it is my new favorite, and he and his character are especially awesome.

I love the books. Alexander Skarsgård do a job. I don’t like the over the top drama that the shows writers have added.

Hell yeah, me too! It's like a blend of three sci-fi bots: HK from KOTOR, Marvin from Hitchhikers Guide, and Kriten from Red Dwarf. This character is such a lovable dick head!!

LIGHT SPOILERS FOR THE WHOLE SERIES

Having read the series, I was at first a bit put off by Murderbot’s interpretation to the screen. It’s a little cheesier so far - the survey crew for example. And I never got that Murderbot was so outwardly awkward when dealing with humans. It hates it, sure, and sometimes it slips up and lets its emotions show, but typically it was capable of being socially competent (as in pretending not to be rogue - and eventually pretending to be human). I don’t recall the “speech” scene happening in the book. There are also a few lore changes so far.

That being said, I’m enjoying the TV series as its own thing. But I definitely recommend the books to anyone who prefers hard sci-fi.
