My goal is just to have a community where people can go and see what new game news is out for the day and comment on it.

My opinion? Hardcopy.
I still have CDs of old games. I can install and play the base version if they only require the code on the back of the jewel case. Some even allow private servers for multiplayer.
New ones? DRM, licensing servers, gameservers, download sources…as they disappear, so do the games because nobody can play them.
I appreciate people sharing their work, and criticisms of anti consumer practices in gaming. This article gets kind of rambly quick and I think distracts from whatever the main idea or message is though.
