Tap to go to the tower
What, a, science fiction novel. This is my jam. It's Stalker meets Lovecraft meets Color out of Space with massive amounts of introspection. Loved it being first-person and it really helped me to get inside her head.
As for the movie differences,... I like both? I think the film did all it could've done and did it amazingly. It cut the story down, made it more visually impactful and more thrilling. I can't imagine 2 hours of Natalie Portman talking about tide pools would've been very exciting, but in book form that sort of storytelling is more beneficial to the medium. I do think the hypnosis could've been in the film without changing the structure. Ventress is just as shady in the film as the book, start to finish, she's suspicious.
I'm starting Authority and while I'm let down a bit that it seems to be third-person, I get why, opening up the main character to pretty much be Area X itself.
But anyway, great stuff, would love reccomendationsn for other authors like him.
