I'm confused about the mirror image bonuses. Why are there multiple ones, why does it give AC, and why would it stack?

Each "image" of Mirror Image gives you a +3 bonus to AC (there are 3 images, for +9 AC total). When an attack misses, one of the images disappears. It was handy for dodging Myrkul, who couldn't get a scythe attack in.

The mirror image distracts attackers, increasing the spellcaster's Armour Class Armour Class by 3 per duplicate image. When the caster successfully evades an attack, one of the images disappears.

Because that's how mirror image works.

@anakin78z@lemmy.world is probably used to the DnD version. There you keep your normal AC but if you get hit by something you roll to see if it hits one of the mirror images or you. I think it even works with magic missile.
