Electric cars are a lot like petrol cars. Less noisy and more acceleration; but in day to day driving, there isn't a world is difference in the driving experience and absolutely no difference in the passenger experience.

Driving a large Audi SUV on the equivalent of two liters of Diesel / 100km which at least in summer I can source directly from my roof is pretty neat though.
I actually like that part the most - arrive somewhere, toss a plug in in, done. No detours for getting gas anymore.
Oh, and because the AC compressor is electric of course, the car can be pre-cooled remotely in summer, that's also pretty much an EV only feature.
These are the parts that make it a different thing the most for me, plus, absolutely no downsides to driving short distances anymore, no oil thinning, no clogged EGR, hook the trailer up, go 800m up the trail to get firewood, go back, no harm done.
Yeah, most modern cars are so quiet anyway that it’s not immediately obvious you’re in an electric car - and even from the outside, most of the noise comes from the tires, not the engine. It really is superior technology in almost every way, but I’d imagine that the day-to-day driving experience isn’t all that different from any other modern car with an automatic gearbox.
Personally, I drive a stick, so from a driving experience standpoint, I’d actually consider going electric a bit of a downgrade. I quite like the analog feel, myself.
What car was it and how did you like it?
I'm hesitant to say - I intentionally didn’t mention it.
It was a Tesla Model Y. I mean, it was just a quick lap and I didn’t drive, so I can’t form any conclusive opinions, but as someone interested in technology, it’s definitely an intriguing machine. The acceleration especially was unlike anything I’ve experienced before. Kind of crazy that you can just drive something like that with a regular license.
Other than that, it's kind of like a folding phone - fun to mess around with if someone else has one, but not something I’d want to own myself. I’m more than satisfied with my nearly 20-year-old pickup truck.
It’s not like you purchased one, I don’t think you need to feel guilty for taking for it for a spin.
My brother in law took me for a spin in his AWD top spec Nissan Ariya. It has a listed 0-60 time of 5 seconds in that configuration. My base model F-150 gets up to 60 in a little over 6 seconds, and his Ariya definitely tested the seat bolstering when he floored it around a slight bend.
The model Y does 3.5. That’s like super car specs of yesteryear. For reference, a 2008 Dodge Viper SRT-10 lists at 3.5. The venerable Ferrari F-50 of 1997 lists at 3.5. A 2005 Ford GT lists 3.5.
So yeah, pretty nuts, and significantly faster acceleration than most people experience in their lifetime. I’ve been looking for a cheap, athletic car for weekend thrills and occasional track days, and 5 seconds is right around the spec I’m looking for, maybe a used Cayman S, plenty of speed to make me feel like I’m breaking the law without being too tail happy. 3.5 is probably a tad more juice than anyone should play with unseasoned.
The acceleration on the Teslas is mad. Completely unnecessary. All EVs are quick from a standing start though - due to instant torque and no need to change gear, you can easily beat the tosser in the BMW when the lights go green.
My old boss showed me the acceleration in his Model S and it was admittedly pretty cool. I was prepared for it but I still said said WHOA when he gunned it.
Piece of shit guy, though. I imagine he pre-ordered a cybertruck
