Also, Peaky Blinders takes place around 30 years later than your meme.

S1 of peaky blinders is set in 1919. Later seasons, ye, reach the 30s. But yeah, still a considerable amount of time later than 1900.

That’s not too far off. The oppression and wealth inequality of the Gilded Age ended in 1900. The Progressive Era ~~and the New Deal~~ quickly shifted wealth from industrial growth to white workers through unions. However, people of color did not benefit from these protections.

Duh. You’re right. It followed the Progressive Era. Regardless, the transfer of wealth to white workers was relatively swift, and the cost of domestic goods was low at the turn of the century. If you look at photos of 1890 vs 1900 vs 1910, you’ll see what I mean.
