It's weird how people act like star power is bringing viewers to theaters. I haven't seen the movie, but I will, and I'm sure he's good in it. But I'll see it because it looks like a great movie, not because I want to see the latest Michael B. Jordan film. I'm old enough to remember a time when an actor's name would sell tickets, but that was ages ago.

You’re right but also this is just his agent/PR team marketing him

Yup this isn’t even news or anything worthwhile to read. It’s just advertisement.

Phrasing it like theaters are losing audiences due to laziness and not a bad value proposition is nuts to me

Don't care who's in it if it's told well and acted half decent

Parasocial relationships are fucked up. The amount of people that think celebrities are their friends or good influences are astronomically high.

People aren’t better just because you hear more about them. Like wtf is wrong with people forming entire cults around these personality disordered individuals.

It's amazing to this same article posted on Reddit where the bots descend to make a massively toxic pile where nobody liked the movie even though it was a massive success. It's a great movie too with great music

It was a really well done movie, interweaving a main story with interesting characters, interweaving time periods, an homage to blues and some blue's heroes, and at the heart lies a classic horror genre made fresh. This one took me by surprise. I plan on watching it a second time, just to recapture its essence again.

Now with that said, did it really rescue the film industry? I say no. One great one amongst a flow of mediocre movies you would wait and see at home, does not save the day or the movie theaters.

It's almost like if you have a director and star that have a had a string of good movies. People will show up to the next one regardless if it's a franchise or not.

I'm currently waiting through the trailers for my second watch in theaters lol
