The darker the roast, the more caffeine is burned out of the beans, so you'll actually want a lighter roast if you need that energy.

I was going to try and turn this into a joke or pun somehow but no, I guess this ones just a fun fact.

You hear that, America? If you want your coffee to Do The Thing™ then you need to stop BURNING IT TO FUCK.

I may or may not be very irritated to live in a country where we serve blackened sludge instead of coffee.

Have you considered the profit margins on black sludge? Why won't these peons ever think of the shareholders?! /s

That’s fine. Thanks Dave.

It's true that dark roasts tend to be slightly lower in caffeine after roasting but according to studies the difference is negligible (so long as it is measured by weight instead of volume because roasted beans expand.)

Yeah but for the purposes of practicality, doesn't that make it weaker? They measure out the grind by volume, not weight.

I don't drink coffee often so you're probably right.

I like my coffee like I like my unfathomable horrors.

Me: So, urm, are you enjoying your job?

Barista: What a grand and intoxicating innocence. How could you be so naive? There is no escape. No recall or intervention can work in this place.
