Three Māori lawmakers in New Zealand have been suspended for up to three weeks for a haka they performed last November. Debbie Ngarewa-Packer, Rawiri Waititi and Hana-Rawhiti Maipi-Clarke were protesting against legislation that would have reinterpreted the Treaty of Waitangi, an 1840 agreement between the British Crown and Māori chiefs.
