Shaving in the Rain: Day 6 of Lather Games

  • Brush: Declaration Grooming Washington Blood of Kings B3 $Silvertip $SHD
  • Razor: Weck Sextoblade (red translucent scales) $Weckonista
  • Blade: Kismet Rostfrei, Polymer beschichtet
  • Lather: Declaration Grooming – Bangarang
  • Post Shave: Declaration Grooming – Bangarang
  • Fragrance: Declaration Grooming – Bangarang

Theme justification:

Bangarang is a throwback to our collective childhood, a transitional season scent of rain, petrichor, leaves, a touch of bay and florals.

Bangarang is one of my earliest software sets, and it's a bit of a stroll down memory lane to use it. It's a happy, slightly sweet scent, and with the trusty little Washington and the Sextoblade, I had a delightful morning shave.

Awesome picture! This black theme goes really well together with the red accents of software and the Weck. What's the background, looks like a really quality piece of wood?

Unfortunately Bangarang mostly evokes memories of laundry day at my grandparents' house for me. Smells kinda like her laundry detergent of choice did πŸ˜…

It's always interesting to hear how scents evoke some super specific associations!

Huh, colour me impressed! I thought it was a massive ebony table. πŸ˜…

Yeah, I kinda got it back then because I was curious how well petrichor scents could really emulate my favourite nature scent of fresh rain on warm, dusty roads... Only to be hit with a blast from the past of Persil πŸ˜‚

June 6th, 2025: Shaving in the Rain

  • Brush: AP Shave Co. - Heritage Collection w/ Omega Boar
  • Razor: Merkur - 34C
  • Blade: Gillette Silver Blue
  • Lather: Declaration Grooming - After the Rain - Soap
  • Post Shave: Catie's Bubbles - Literal Lilac - Aftershave

Daily Theme Justification: "Like a walk through a forest after a spring shower with notes of wet pine, muted lavender, cedar, and white pepper." - DG After the Rain ad copy

Daily Theme: I straight up did not even read the scent notes until writing up this post. While I was shaving this morning, I really thought I detected spicy and darker scent notes in contrast to the area I was at. What do you know, there is pepper in this! After the Rain is not a totally dank scent, but has those elements. I finished off with Literal Lilac because nature tends to bless us with pretty looking and good smelling flowers after a good rain storm. Lilacs are the smell of spring in my area! End thread. Shout out to u/Schontzm for the smush! Also shoutout to u/KerblimeySkal for the passaround on this brush. Unequivocally the smoothest, softest, and most supple boar knot I've ever used. I know what I am getting for AA.

Daily Challenge: I was a little snarky in my post yesterday, and today I wanted to practice what I was preaching. I got up pretty damn early this morning and had a nice 20 minute cruise over to a local conservation area. Luckily, there was nobody around this morning and got to take it all in. Besides almost slipping, falling, and eating shit on the uneven terrain, I had a good shave with limited water. The birds were there this morning to keep me company as they were YAPPING. You can forget how loud nature can actually be where there are no other people around to distract you. You may notice that the SOTD pic is not the same view as where I shaved because I had to move to get to a more secluded spot.

June 6th, 2025: Gold Dollar

  • Brush: Wolf Whiskers - "Gianmaria" w/Maggard 26mm Synthetic
  • Razor: Gold Dollar Straight Razor (5)
  • Lather: House of Mammoth - Mood Indigo - Soap
  • Post Shave: Chatillon Lux - Gratiot League Square - Aftershave
  • Fragrance: GLHF Workshop - Atriox - EdP

Enjoyable shave from the $12 thing. This still has my signature edge on it, which features the logical progression of 600 to 10,000 with nothing in between. Some good resistance on my chin, but not tuggy. My skin is happy and I'm looking forward to the next time I use it.

Atriox is really great.

Enjoyable shave from the $12 thing

  • Brush: Zenith B40 28mm Boar
  • Razor: GEM MMOC Gold Gen2 $FLIPTOP $RUSTYBUTTRUSTY $MACHINEAGE
  • Blade: Personna Gem PTFE (11)
  • Lather: Declaration Grooming - After the Rain - Soap
  • Post Shave: Imaginary Authors - Telegrama - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: Thayers - Cucumber - Toner
  • Fragrance: Imaginary Authors - Telegrama - Eau de Parfum
  • Talc: Yardley Gold

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

As the scent description suggests, After the Rain does remind me of a walk through the woods after a spring shower. I try to get out into the (urban) forest everyday, and did so, in fact this morning. I could not be bothered to take shave gear with me, and it did not rain last night, but I am familiar with this forest scent.

To me, Telegrama has the scent freshly washed linens drying on a clothesline in the sun. Naturally, one would expect to come across this after the rain ;-)

This MMOC is my favorite vintage safety razor. It is in excellent shape yet not restored. I like that I can see both the great care and the patina that this razor has received in its lifetime.

June 6th, 2025: Shaving in the Rain

  • Brush: Semogue - Owners Club 24mm Boar $WOODEN
  • Razor: Gillette - Super Speed Black Tip $ATOMICAGE
  • Blade: Wizamet Super Iridium (2)
  • Lather: Wholly Kaw - Tempest - Soap
  • Post Shave: Chiseled Face - Summer Storm - Aftershave
  • Fragrance: MΓ€urer & Wirtz - SIR Irisch Moos - EdT

$discord

Theme justification: Tempest and Summer Storm are both obvious petrichor/rain scents. Between the two, I prefer Summer Storm by a decent margin. CF is needed elsewhere on my calendar though, and the WK base gave a great lather.

Daily challenge: I was incredibly busy with work and family life today, so I did not shave outside. I either had enough time to go for a run or to head somewhere to shave. I went for the run, which I think was the healthier decision. #NORAGRETS $SELFCARE

$FOF - The dirt, petrichor, and rain from Tempest and Summer Storm faded into the mossy-green Irisch Moos in a surprisingly natural way. Original Irisch Moos soap or cream is definitely something I'm keeping an eye out for. I just love this scent.
