A place for Australians and friends to share news from the other countries. Like all communities here, we discuss topics from the Australian perspective.

If you're looking for a global /c/worldnews instead, search for the many options on federated instances.

Rules
  1. Follow the aussie.zone rules
  2. We are not a generic World News clone. News must be relevant to Australians and our region. Obvious disregard will earn an warning and then a ban if continued. (If an article isn't from an Oceanian news outlet, and it doesn’t mention Australia, then it’s probably off-topic)
  3. Leave seppocentrism at the door. If you don't know what that means, you're not ready to post here yet.
  4. Avoid editorialising headlines. Opinions go in the comments, not the post.

The best part of a Trump presidency is if Israel goes to war with Iran, you have no idea what Trump will do about it.

It’s Netanyahu who’s trying to get something out of this.

Nah that shit doesn't pass the sniff test. It's Israel through and through.

Netanyahu's government was two votes away from being dissolved by the Knesset. I think it's Netanyahu this time.

There is a broad consensus in the Israeli public that Iran is a major threat, and Israel's opposition leader, Yair Lapid, a staunch critic of Netanyahu, offered his "full support" for the mission against Iran.

Well, Israel/USA has been hostile to Iran for a long time. Iran is the last state in the region that stands against US interests. There's a lot of people who want a war against them.

It could also serve in misdirecting attention while they escalate their crimes in Gaza. Israel took out Gaza's last internet cable in the day before their attacks on Iran: https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/un-says-full-internet-blackout-gaza-paralyzing-aid-operations-2025-06-12/
