If you find an injured owl:
Note your exact location so the owl can be released back where it came from. Contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitation specialist to get correct advice and immediate assistance.
Minimize stress for the owl. If you can catch it, toss a towel or sweater over it and get it in a cardboard box or pet carrier. It should have room to be comfortable but not so much it can panic and injure itself. If you can’t catch it, keep people and animals away until help can come.
Do not give food or water! If you feed them the wrong thing or give them water improperly, you can accidentally kill them. It can also cause problems if they require anesthesia once help arrives, complicating procedures and costing valuable time.
If it is a baby owl, and it looks safe and uninjured, leave it be. Time on the ground is part of their growing up. They can fly to some extent and climb trees. If animals or people are nearby, put it up on a branch so it’s safe. If it’s injured, follow the above advice.

The owl form of "I want to speak to a manager, now!"
Yo I think someone drew dark lines on a clay statue 🤪
I legit never knew there were so many weirdly cute and cutely weird species of owl in the world 😂
It is truly amazing just how many owls there are! They don't all look totally different, but with there being around 250, there's got to be a bunch anyone would find amazing. 🥰
You know my favorite is the NWFS, but I will say, no other owl seems to have the expressiveness of the BFO. Such attitude!
Top tier owls for sure! Right up there with Snowies and Burrowing Owls. They've really become one of my favorite groups of owls.
Because of the attitude?
I admit I have a soft spot for the little guys; the Saw Whet is local, too, and it gives WFS a run for the money.
Burrowing can be pretty funny with their behavior; I can see why you'd like them.
Snowy, though - that has to be pure cosmetic, like why I love NWFS. Although, I do think the Northern WFS has a gorgeous call.
Just the range of "expressions" they can make.
Saw Whet is another good one, and of course the WFS!
The only Burrowing Owl I got to see was in a bad mood, I think I startled it, but they sure do give a vicious angry face.
I used to think the Snowy was largely internet hype, but I met one this year, and that guy was about the most charming semi-wild animal I ever saw! So handsome, so much character. It's hyped, but the hype is real! I don't think it'd be my number 1 were I forced to choose, but it should be in everyone's top 5 somewhere.
