I have yet to see anyone provide some rough numbers so we can have some context. My understanding is that Chinese ship builders can be between 1/2 and a 1/3 as expensive as North American builders.

So, on a huge order like this, how much would we be spending to subsidize our tradespeople? What services should we cut for the privilege?

I'm glad they went with Chinese ships. We need more ships now, not more make-work projects for Irving to fuck up for the next decade and then under deliver
