Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Goal Is to “Bring Back Everyone Who Has Died”

Michelle Trachtenberg

Sure hope Michelle over-succeeds.

That's so sad 😔

Since Whedon doesn't seem to be involved, maybe Tara will actually come back this time.

Did he stop Tara coming back?

[–] raltoid@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 57 minutes ago)

As far as I know she has never said who it specifically was, just that there was a person who made her not want to come back(after a huge fan push to revive her, among the many possible moments).

It has later been revealed by multiple people across several productions that span decades, that Joss Whedon is basically a "good old boy". The kind of guy who finds it funny to mock women. He allegedly has retold a story he found hilarious, about how he made a female writer cry, twice. That sort of behaviour was "confirmed" to happen by by multiple cast members, including SMG. And it is likely why he has no involvement in the new show.

From what I remember, yes. Lots of drug issues and also I believe creeper status as well if not outright predator.

I don't know all the details but I've seen the word 'monster' associated with him

[–] LadyButterfly@piefed.blahaj.zone 4 points 19 hours ago

Unsurprising. Joss Whedon was a creep and like attracts like, figures he'd hire people that would let him get away with shit

Could you have maybe worded that a bit better Buffy?

[–] Tolookah@discuss.tchncs.de 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It's a show about vampires and undead, feels like it's worded just right.

ssɐqɯnᗡ is likely referring to the fact that Michelle Trachtenberg is ACTUALLY dead in real life. That takes it from awkward to REALLY awkward.

iirc they decided to do the reboot after Michelle Trachtenberg died.

I'm not going to speculate about it, but I'd think that Geller and Trachtenberg were friends and I do know that Geller has resisted doing a reboot for years.

[–] mycodesucks@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I don't mean the REBOOT is awkward.

I mean her WORDING is awkward.

She could've gone with something like "I want to find a way to get everyone we can back on the show."

[–] M137@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

How are people not understanding that? It was obvious from the very first comment.

I really liked that show back in the day and felt it was empowering women.

The spin off was pretty cool too.
