Funny. I also said fuck you but it was to Jimmy Kimmel for asking Canadians to send in videos of us being angry at America because of the 51st state stuff so he could put them on TV and laugh at us. Because that's the best way to handle a countries rage at having its sovereignty threatened. Laugh at the angry citizens.

Goddamn clown.

When the water wars come Kimmel is def on that list.

It makes me sad that I canceled Paramount+ a month ago. I wish I had waited until now.

There's no wrong time to cancel Paramount+. Even when they had all the Trek content, the UI was dog shit so you could barely play what you wanted to watch anyway. And now that they've made the decision to split their IP, ugh.

I watched the CBS morning show for years. Amongst the morning news, I felt it was the best programming: had long-form investigative reporting, balanced viewpoints, etc. Then they added a shopping segment. Okay, gotta pay the bills. Then they started doing more pop-culture bits, even prompting Nora to ask, in the middle of her prompter read, "is this news?" Then they started to carve out time for at least 1 segment a week for Moriarty to interview a billionaire about their passion projects. And so on. The last straw for me was normalizing Trump's shtick a second time.

Now the only news I watch is the Weather Channel.

We'll just think of it this way, you gave them one month's less money. That's better right?

I found this Blast article a lot more informative than the linked write-up. Excerpt:

Kimmel addressed the shocking end of "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" on his Instagram Story, sharing a clip of his friend's confirmation of the news. He captioned the post with a direct message to the network, writing:

"Love you Stephen. F-ck you and all your Sheldons CBS."

Kimmel's words referenced CBS' iconic character Sheldon Cooper, whose life was depicted in two hit series, "The Big Bang Theory" and its spinoff, "Young Sheldon." The TV host appeared to be calling BS on the network's decision to cancel Colbert's talk show while promoting other programs.

Don't forget the Sheldonless spinoff of Young Sheldon. Such and such's first marriage.

Netflix could use a weeknight live talk show.

That’s actually not a bad idea. Netflix can certainly afford it, though I have to wonder how the audience members would be sourced for such a thing. Streaming seems to working out fine for John Oliver over on…whatever HBO identifies as nowadays.

HBO currently identifies as a sailor, that's why I always seek his contents on the high sea.

[–] paraphrand@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

They tried a few, right?

[–] magnetosphere@fedia.io 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

What’s a Sheldon? Is he referencing the character from Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon? Why?

[–] JakenVeina@midwest.social 3 points 3 days ago

Seems like a jab at CBS prioritizing those kinds of shows over the largely-more-popular Late Show. Alternatively, maybe making a jab at those being the best that CBS has to offer.

I wonder how many people remember the Kimmel got his start on The Man Show, which was like the most misogynistic shit ever on TV. Funny watching him try to take the moral high ground.

Real people grow from their experiences. Chuds wallow in it as a replacement for their personalities.
