Xbox One was supposed to be your one stop shop for entertainment.
I use mine for prime. Everything else is libreelec though.
it wasn't a terrible idea, just the implementations of it--in the efforts to extract maximum profits.
Back in 2006/2007, it wasn't a terrible idea. I actually used it a bit after I dropped cable in college to buy shows that I wanted to watch.
It would have been good if it had been made all that usable. Many people were looking for a place to have all of their media in one. Smart TVs weren't the default like now, so they were trying to take the market from things like Roku and Apple TV and such. Still could have been useful if they had made it better than the crappy Smart TV interfaces (which wouldn't have taken much), but they never did, so it never really caught on.
I have an apple tv. If steam made an apple tv like steam box that played games, watched movies and tv shows and youtube id get one. I use linux so that thing doesnt exist and Id be pumped. I know many millenials wouldnt mind that for a tv
This is exactly what I use my steam deck for, so yeah, I'm totally on board! 👍
Edit: I might try out this mini PC in the mean time.
This is going to upset 10s of people
There's dozens of us! DOZENS!!!
Hopefully they focus their resources on whatever game studios remain.
Just make easy to access movies and films from other sources on XBox, we don't need a Microsoft monopoly on streaming.
