I have been playing this game for nearly 30 years. It's simply brilliant; inspired generations, never once replicated. The race creation is what gives it such replayability, I think. Playing science-focused is very very different to going pacifistic telepath or "barbarian horde screaming through the stars in tin cans".

The art holds up, too. A timeless masterpiece.

I also like the unbalanced tech tree. Most modern teach trees feel so balanced that I don't need to make decisions.
