I finally took the plunge into Guild Wars 2 a couple weeks ago, coming in as someone who’s mostly lived in Soulsborne worlds and story-heavy RPGs. I didn’t expect to connect with it so fast… but here we are.
What pulled me in:
• The personal story. I play a human guardian who grew up on the streets and never knew her parents. I didn’t think I’d get emotional over an MMO origin story, but here we are.
• The sense of scale in the world. Walking through Divinity’s Reach for the first time literally made me stop and take it all in.
• Dynamic events. I wandered into a centaur attack without realizing it wasn’t just ambient flavor—it was happening.
I stream my journey a few times a week and love seeing veterans drop in to share lore or nudge me in the right direction (without spoilers). Honestly, it’s been one of the most welcoming communities I’ve joined.
What was the moment you knew GW2 was something special?
