It be better if it was the British museum.

[–] db2@sopuli.xyz 33 points 2 years ago (1 children)

The point is to steal things that don't already belong to them.

[–] HikingVet@lemmy.sdf.org 10 points 2 years ago

Nah, the 'reverse' of putting it in a museum is repatriation.

[–] produnis@discuss.tchncs.de -5 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Indy didnt steal from museums

[–] dingus@lemmy.ml 64 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

I think you're missing their point.

Indy was always "it belongs in a museum" when its an intricate part of some foreign nations history. That museum always seemed to be British or US.

The point being they're just stealing their history back. A reverse Indy.

"It belongs to the culture it came from. Allow them to choose what to do with it. Perhaps they even have their own museums."

[–] HikingVet@lemmy.sdf.org 11 points 2 years ago

Very well put.

[–] PP_BOY_@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

The Vatican is a museum whether you like it or not

[–] Daerun@lemmy.world 70 points 2 years ago (1 children)

For those who can't read latin they are saying "Come back!" "That's the Holy Foreskin!".

[–] KreekyBonez@lemm.ee 15 points 2 years ago (1 children)

lol nice

I just assumed it said "it belongs in a museum"

[–] Daerun@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

That's probably what their lawyers would state they meant to say.

[–] ObviouslyNotBanana@lemmy.world 35 points 2 years ago

That actually sounds fantastic.

[–] FurtiveFugitive@lemm.ee 33 points 2 years ago (1 children)

So here we have Internet Guy posting a stolen comic about stolen artifacts. Neat.

Share some credit. http://smbc-comics.com/comic/sanctum

[–] Klear@lemmy.world 8 points 2 years ago

That comic belongs in a museum!

[–] Hegar@kbin.social 29 points 2 years ago (2 children)

China actually does this - they steal back artifacts looted by colonial powers. There have been many high profile heists of museums where the only items taken were looted Chinese artifacts that the museum refused to return.

[–] MooseBoys@lemmy.world 20 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Such a great movie - Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker had great chemistry.

[–] Hegar@kbin.social 9 points 2 years ago

Yeah, it's not bad. The bit where Tucker is pretending to be Chinese isn't nearly as awkward as I'd remembered and the fight scene with all the throwing vases and arguing about which dynasty each one is from is pretty funny.

[–] Potatisen@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

I 100% believe you but I want to know more!

Spill the beans

[–] Zerush@lemmy.ml 23 points 2 years ago (1 children)

This in a British Museum would also be a good topic for a script

[–] papel@lemmyf.uk 8 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Reminds me of a joke, that the only reason the brits didn't move the pyramids of Giza back to London was because they are too heavy

[–] ComicalMayhem@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Wasn't that actually true?

[–] Madison420@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago

The sphinx but yes.

[–] pucciguccibucci@lemmy.whynotdrs.org 21 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Jondiana Indes and the Doomple of Temp

[–] Potatisen@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Jondiana nooooo

[–] n_emoo@lemmy.ca 17 points 2 years ago

Or a reverse Narcos TV show where south american authorities enter and destroy US gun factories.

[–] AdamBomb@lemmy.sdf.org 17 points 2 years ago

I would watch this

[–] leave_it_blank@lemmy.world 13 points 2 years ago

"This belongs in a forgotten cave buried deep in the Amazonian rainforest!"

[–] Ack@lemmy.ca 12 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Do it with Temple of Doom! I want to see the pope yelling some Latin gibberish and trying to rip indigenous Indy’s heart out of his chest.

[–] Lifebandit666@feddit.uk 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

He'd be going in through the butthole

[–] Potatisen@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

Of a young boy-Indy

[–] neptune@dmv.social 8 points 2 years ago

Wasn't this literally the plot of Black Panther?

[–] Kind@lemm.ee 7 points 2 years ago

Where the bad guys are the CIA or FBI and they are being hunted down for overthrowing a government, there'd be a world of different locations and endless sequels.

[–] PP_BOY_@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Thats... not the opposite of Indiana Jones tho...

[–] TheAndrewBrown@lemm.ee 4 points 2 years ago

Yeah literally the first and the third movie are about stealing Christian holy relics, this is just Indiana Jones with a lead of South American descent

[–] Masimatutu@lemm.ee 5 points 2 years ago

The black, four-bladed propeller in a white circle on a red wing looks mildly suspicious...

[–] Sotuanduso@lemm.ee 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Sounds about as fun as Indiana Jones, as long as it's done for fun and not just to make a statement.

[–] Potatisen@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

For sure! it's entertainment not politics.
