Since Lemmy bugs out and fails to post whenever I forget to "Select Language", I feel the need to select "English" every time. But why should I do this? I can't speak any other languages.

Is there a setting somewhere that automatically sets "English" without me having to post?

Also, can the UI like... die / allow me to come back without forcing me to reload the page? Its incredibly frustrating to post right now.

If you don't, half the time your posts will just disappear into the ether...

My post just disappears if I forget to select a language though.

Did you deselect "Undetermined" language from your settings?

[–] dragontamer@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Nope. That's still in my settings.

But I'm guessing other people have deselected "Undetermined", and I have to respond to them in English, or something.

It shouldn’t disappear for you if you’ve got that selected. Unless you mean it doesn’t get any interactions.

Select Undetermined + English in your profile settings. Idk if that's what it should do, but all my posts seem to be marked as English.

Btw your posts don't disappear, you probably just don't have Undetermined selected so you don't see them.

I do have Undetermined selected.

But the posts just spin-and-spin-and-spin, and never make it out to the server. Trust me, I'm F5ing to look for them. Its way more reliable when I select English.

The spinning is a server thing. There's an absolute onslaught of new people these days. Give it a few days to chill down.

The language doesn't have anything to do with that. This morning it took me an hour to update the sidebars in 2 my communities, later I couldn't send a message for hours. Give it time.

Also maybe try one of the apps. There you may get the opposite problem, posting when it looks like it didn't go through. But it's more reliable I think, which makes sense's since it's less load for the server. (I think.)
