A barn owl conservationist from East Yorkshire says this year has been the second best breeding season in the area for decades.

Robert Salter, 56, from Camerton, near Hedon, has been conserving the birds for 35 years as part of East Yorkshire Barn Owl Conservation.

Over three decades, he has put up more than 350 bird boxes which he regularly monitors.

That's a lot of bird real estate this guy's added! Owls don't build nests, they need existing ones, and as people clear land or remove old dead or damaged trees these owls need, they lose more and more spots to live.

The article shows he's also licensed to band/ring birds so they can be tracked. This can provide tons of crucial data, to see if owls are being lost or if they're just moving around as different areas see increases/decreases in prey populations as the article gets into.

Three hoots, for this man's tireless work to help his feathered friends! ๐Ÿฆ‰ ๐Ÿฆ‰๐Ÿฆ‰
