It must be so frustrating being him.

He basically said as much when he quit the first time around. He said it's incredibly mentally draining to be exposed to all the horrors of the modern world, and having to generate enough awareness and care about them to talk about them, over and over day after day without a chance to have a break. I get why he couldn't take it anymore.

I'm glad he is back. Even his modern shows aren't really the same level of passion as the old ones had. He's jaded. He's still going out there, it's still gold, I'm glad it's there, but take a look at this:

You can see how much he cares. And you can see how fucking tired he is. He's not playing it up. I wish, I wish, I wish there were people on the news right now doing this every night as a mainstream thing.

I remember a clip from a few years back, not of Jon on stage but in front of Congress trying to get a measure passed to provide medical benefits for 9/11 emergency responders. He seemed just exhausted with everything at that point.

I was thinking of it being frustrating in a different manner, but yes, he has had to deal with a lot of frustration on multiple fronts. And he's handled it very gracefully. I am grateful that he's come back into the public eye because, frankly, I think we need him and others like him.

Edit: Also, to be fair, ten years is kind of a long time and it will take a toll on you. But I agree with your point.

Why is this clip cut short so badly? Irony?

Because YouTube shorts is a wretched hive of scum, villainy, and automation
