A place to meme about the glorious ROMAN EMPIRE (and Roman Republic, and Roman Kingdom)! Byzantines tolerated! The HRE is not.

RULES:

  1. No racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, bigotry, etc. The past may be bigoted, but we are not.

  2. Memes must be Rome-related, not just the title. It can be about Rome, or using Roman aesthetics, or both, but the meme itself needs to have Roman themes.

  3. Follow Piefed.social rules.

Explanation: The Romans regarded Persian and Middle Eastern style autocracies (and to a lesser degree, Hellenic autocracies) as having a despotic character, unlike GOOD HONEST ROMAN autocracy which was DEFINITELY government by consensus (just with one man having all the consent)

Quote is from Emperor Decius, after losing his son and heir in combat, to remind his troops that not all was lost (he would die in that same battle, and then all WOULD be lost, but it’s the thought that counts)

The Roman emperors were no kings after all, and were rightfully upset when degenerate Greeks did address them als such. They were really just a PRIMUS INTER PARES. Don't believe that? Here, let me introduce you to these really friendly lions.

I couldn't find a template but this reminded me a meme:

Your primitivism. My traditional values.
Your degeneracy. My innovation.
Your lack of rules. My freedom.
Your despotism. My order.

That's basically Rome's views on everyone else.
