I swear fascists are some of the most unoriginal people on the planet. they just copy each other or copy the dude from the 30s.

you know, at this point, it wouldn't surprise me if they came out with their version of star wars but refused to acknowledge the fact that it's clearly a rip off of star wars.

[–] manxu@piefed.social 11 points 1 week ago

You probably have to be unoriginal to think all the solutions to the problems of today are to be found in yesterday's failed policies. We had a war about the superiority of racial purity, it was called WW2, the racially impure nations won over the racially pure nations, end of story.

And here were are, exactly 80 years later, wondering again if racial purity is a good thing. We know the answer, but some people need convincing every third generation.

Remember when Trump claimed that ~~Somalian~~ Haitian refugees were eating cats?

Same type of scumbag, same playbook, same boss.

Wake the fuck up UK.

[–] TheBat@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Stop lying.

He said that about Haitian immigrants.

[–] Jaysyn@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

You're right. It was Somalia that Trump said was a "place with nothing".

He promised to leave if brexit was a failure. Just like trump promised to never be heard from again if he lost in 2020 election. They take orders from the same boss. Give him the boot

Where have I seen this before?

[–] quelsh@programming.dev 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

"They are eating the dogs" - A stable genius

[–] ieatpwns@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

Has to be true he saw it on the tv

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago

Listen, just because you know it’s bullshit doesn’t mean it won’t work.

Propaganda works. Cambridge Analytica weaponized it. This fuckwad is deploying it. It will work.

Canada and UK, seriously - you are in danger.

Just anything to be a little bit more racist. Asspulls for days.

By eastern Europeans is he talking about other white people? Polish or something?

Edit - Romanians. Fuckin wild times we live in.

[–] ViatorOmnium@piefed.social 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That's a very 21st Century American way of looking at racism, but yes, all people involved are white.

Then again a significant number of US Hispanics would be considered primarly white in Europe, so racism is always more complex than skin colour.

[–] Deflated0ne@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Oh ok. This that old world racism. Aristocrats vs peasants I guess.

[–] ViatorOmnium@piefed.social 4 points 1 week ago

It's not necessarily classicism adjacent.

The worst openly racist reaction I witnessed personally was against a polish man that had the exact job position and general social standing as the racist asshole.

An example in the US would be how JFK still faced some anti-Irish racism despite being as close to aristocracy as possible in American society.

[–] SalaciousBCrumb@lemy.lol 2 points 1 week ago

Racism looks different in different places and times.

In America they care more about the shade of your skin, in Europe they care more about what cultural group you belong to.

[–] AllNewTypeFace@leminal.space 6 points 1 week ago

“Romanians” is usually a euphemism for “Roma/Sinti” (who, as in Hitler’s time, are stereotyped as beggars and thieves)

[–] ThePantser@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

This guy looks like the result of Mr. Bean and RFK Jr breeding.

[–] primrosepathspeedrun@anarchist.nexus 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That's kind of who he is. Maybe some Steven miller or a little Hitler thrown in.

[–] okwhateverdude@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That somehow sounds less appealing than a diarrhea smoothie.

The results are certainly worse.

"They're eating the cats! They're eating the dogs!" And now swans too? Maybe people are just hungry. Or right wingers are lying pieces of shit. That might be it, too.

[–] misk@piefed.social 5 points 1 week ago

My parents ate a swan supposedly, in the 80s, during the most grim times just before communist Poland shit itself and died. I’ve heard it’s pretty bad in the UK these days so the story kind of tracks. Says more about the country than people.

[–] ServantOfRa@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 week ago

This shit has been around since at least the 80's, and guess what? Bullshit.

[–] BrokenGlepnir@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

If it was true I'm pretty sure they'd be dragging them in the way they do Palestine protestors.

[–] jodanlime@midwest.social 1 points 1 week ago

Swan's don't even taste good, nobody should eat them.
