The Guardian noted that the extraordinary decision by Microsoft to end the spy agency’s access to key technology was made amid pressure from employees and investors over its work for the Israeli military and the role its technology has played in the almost two-year offensive in Gaza.

Even so, I am still stunned that Microsoft would do the right thing.

  1. Until they rehire the protesting employees they fired, they haven't.

  2. Call me cynical, but I'd be willing to lay odds that this is mostly a marketing stunt. There are probably either alternative ways to accomplish the same things in their system, or what they've blocked aren't really major revenue-generating items anyway. Satya isn't about to kill the cash flow.

Thank goodness. I was worried that my opinion of them was going to have to start including some nuance.

In a world where very few things are binary and most things are spectrums, nuance is generally a good policy.
