That's not fully true, a decent amount of Steam games have zero DRM. It's not as convenient as the GOG installers, but you can make an archive of the installed game and run it again without Steam.
I say this as a long time user of GOG who tries to get games from them over Steam (when possible).
You literally have never bought games and only purchased a life we to play them.
My g/f is all about the x-box and pays for the game pass. She argues it lets her try games without committing to purchase. And I was like, "that's what demos are, and they used to be something the industry offered for free." $120 a year for the cheapest plan so I can demo single player games. I could buy 3-8 games that are new to me for that price by being a late adopter and getting it on sale after reading user/industry reviews to give myself a shot at being happy with the purchase. In the time I've known her, my g/f bought one game she played through the pass because it stopped being available through the pass, (party animals is the game in question.)
Xbox is BDS - if you support Palestine, now is a great time to cancel your Gamepass subscription and stop funding genocide.
Including Fortnite Crew in Game Pass Ultimate is a terrible justification for the 50% price increase. How many people who play Fortnite enough for Crew to be useful also play other games enough for Game Pass Ultimate to be worthwhile?
people are stupid for even getting the subscription in the first place.
